PARENT VOLUNTEERS NEEDED IN KINDERGARTEN CLASSES 8/30-9/10
Volunteers are needed to assist our kindergarten teachers in the classroom during the first two weeks of school. Volunteers should not be parents/guardians of kindergarten students during this time to help our youngest learners transition. Click HERE to sign up for a time slot! Please remember to bring photo ID and sign in at the front desk to be assigned to a classroom, and to mask up! Don't forget to complete the Volunteer Agreement which can be found Here prior to volunteering. Please also note MCPS requires that ALL volunteers who work with children complete the online training module "Recognizing and Reporting Child Abuse and Neglect" every three years. The training can be accessed through your ParentVUE account. Training support and further information about Child Abuse and Neglect, can be found here: https://www.montgomeryschoolsmd.org/childabuseandneglect/.
ROOM PARENTS NEEDED
A BIG thanks to everyone who signed up to volunteer in their child’s class! We've had terrific initial interest but there are still opportunities, especially in 3rd and 4th grade. SIGN UP today to help throughout the year. Room parents provide essential support to teachers and organize fun events for the class on Halloween, Valentine's Day, and the last day of school.
If you have questions, reach out to Joanna Marsh, PTA Board Volunteer Liaison at bradleyhillsvolunteer@gmail.com.
FALL PIINIC
Come join new friends and old to celebrate the start of the 2021 school year. The Bradley Hills PTA is hosting a back to school party on September 11, 2021 at Bradley Hills from 5-7pm. Activities will include food trucks, inflatables, raffles, a dunk tank, tie dye, face painting and more. Let's kick off this school year with a celebration!
BOOK FAIR
The Fall Scholastic BHES PTA Book Fair returns in-person September 16–24, in the BHES media center! This Fall’s theme is “A Whale-y Good Time to Read”. For those who’s kids haven’t experienced the book fair in person, it’s SUPER FUN! We transform the media center into a pop up book store, with contests, story times, and more theme-related fun. Generous sales rewards from Scholastic allow the PTA to purchase more books for our classrooms and media center! We’re seeking volunteers to serve on the PTA Book Fair Committee and/or to help staff the fair. If you’re able to help, please contact Leigh Senger at L_A_Patterson@hotmail.com. Links with volunteer “sign-up genius” slots are coming soon!
JUST IN CASE CLOTHING DRIVE
Accidents happen, and sometimes students soil or wet their clothes at school, and the school administration helps them change into something more comfortable. We are asking for gently used clothing donations of varying sizes to keep at school for these emergencies. There is a bin in front of BHES, and we thank you for your contributions! Anything that the school administration does not use may be donated to Weller Road. Thank you!
WELLER ROAD SCHOOL SUPPLY DRIVE
Bradley Hills' sister school, Weller Road Elementary School, is a Title 1 (high poverty) school. They created an Amazon Wish List that includes school supplies, headphones, face masks, and other much-needed items that teachers and school counselors use for educational programs. The Wish List may be sorted in order to see highest priority items. Backpacks, sheet protectors and expo markers are the highest priority so every little bit helps.
We thank our generous Bradley Hills school community in advance for choosing to purchase whatever items they would like to donate from this Wish List. Please choose the gift registry address (Beatrice Menendez option) so that items will be delivered to Weller Road's central office where staff and counselors can easily access the items. There will also be a bin outside BHES for collection as well if you prefer to shop in store and donate.
