BOOK FAIR
The BHES PTA Book Fair is happening from September 16th through the 23rd. This fair's theme is "A Whale-y Good Time to Read". We have contests and fun planned to celebrate! Due to Covid-19 considerations, we're running things a bit differently than in years past.
All in-person shopping will be done by students, during their classroom visits. Unfortunately, non-volunteer parents will not be able to physically shop at the fair, but still may do so online through this link: ONLINE SHOPPING
Want to help out with the fair? We're seeking (fully Covid-19 vaccinated) volunteer parents to help staff the fair for set-up, class visits, and pack-up. Volunteers must complete the child abuse and neglect training. Please see this sign-up genius link to help! SIGN UP
Another way to help is to purchase books for classroom libraries. Books chosen by our teachers will be available for purchase at the fair!
The easiest way to help is to purchase books, either online or during September 16 - 23! Scholastic rewards a generous percentage of our sales back to us as Scholastic Bucks, which are used to purchase books for our media center and classrooms. More than one of our recent in-person fairs provided over $5000 worth of books, each, to our school, purchased with our rewards!
E-Wallets are an easy way to send your child to the fair with money in an online account, where it can't be lost. Please visit our fair homepage above to set one up for your child before their class visits. Please note that funds added to an E-wallet that aren't used will be available for use at scholastic online and/or at a later BHES PTA Book Fair, but will not be refunded - this is a change from last year.
FOR FAMILIES OF BLACK BHES STUDENTS
The National Association for the Advancement of Colored People (NAACP) has a local Parents' Council with a purpose of supporting African-American parents and students of MCPS. If you are interested in learning more about ongoing NAACP activities and connecting with other parents of BHES Black students to discuss issues and priorities for our families, please contact Anne Reid at annemorrisreid@gmail.com..

JUST IN CASE CLOTHING DRIVE
Accidents happen, and sometimes students soil or wet their clothes at school, and the school administration helps them change into something more comfortable. We are asking for gently used clothing donations of varying sizes to keep at school for these emergencies. There is a bin in front of BHES, and we thank you for your contributions! The most needed items are: unisex sweat pants, socks, and unisex shirts for grades K-2. Anything that the school administration does not use may be donated to Weller Road.
