THE SCIENCE FAIR IS BACK!

The BHES Science Fair will be held on Thursday, November 9 this year, so start thinking of your projects! Science fair project presentations will occur in 2 sessions:

6:30-7:15pm for students in grades K-2

7:30-8:15pm for students in grades 3-5

How to participate:

1) Check out ScienceBuddies.org for project ideas by grade level and topics of interest.

2)Register your science fair project by October 23.

3) Apply the scientific method while you do your project.

4) Summarize your project on a tri-fold poster board.  Describe all aspects of the scientific method on your poster, including the Research Question, Background, Hypothesis, Materials & Methods, Results, and Conclusion.

5) Practice telling people about your project.

6) Present your project at the Science Fair on November 9!

We need judges! No scientific expertise needed, just a willingness to talk to students about their projects! If you're interested in volunteering as a judge for the Science Fair, please email Jen Villani at jenvillani@gmail.com or Colleen Fahey at cefahey@yahoo.com

TEACHER-LED CLUBS (4TH & 5TH GRADERS)

The PTA is excited to once again offer after school and before school enrichment opportunities for students. This year, our teachers will be running clubs for 4th and 5th graders before and after school. Clubs include Student Government, Dungeons and Dragons, Math Olympiad and Yearbook (5th grade only). More information is available in the flyer below.

All before and after school enrichment programs (including clubs and the after-school enrichment classes described below) are neither sponsored nor endorsed by the Montgomery County School Board, the Superintendent of Montgomery County Public Schools, or Bradley Hills Elementary School. Email Natalie Ram at natalie.ram@gmail.com or Laurel Keating at laurel.keating@gmail.com with any questions.

AFTER-SCHOOL ENRICHMENT ACTIVITIES

The PTA is also continuing our relationship with Baroody Camps to offer after school enrichment classes this Fall for all students in grades K-5, and we are excited to offer many classes this year that are geared towards our older students.  All classes are held onsite at Bradley Hills from 3:35 – 4:35pm. Students go directly from their classrooms to their enrichment programs.

The Fall session will run from Oct 17 – Dec 15 with classes available Tuesdays – Fridays. (No enrichment on Mondays.) Please see the attached flyer below for the class schedule and pricing information. When classes are open to a range of grades, we encourage parents to review the class description and consider whether class offerings will engage their older students’ interests.

Full details about each class and registration information can be found online at Bradley Hills PTA Enrichment Programs, powered by Baroody Camps (https://bc-mco-bradleyhills.jumbula.com/ - /fall-2023). You will also be able to register directly from this site beginning on Tuesday, Sept 26 at 10am. Don’t delay! Your favorite class will fill up quickly.
