SPOUT OUTS!

Thank you to our BHES community for your generous in-kind and online donations to the Manna Food Center food drive in support of food-insecure families in Montgomery County! We filled a pick-up truck with 287 pounds of food and raised more than $550. Thank you to Ivy Lin and Sarah Zetterli for coordinating the food drive!

Thanks to our Book Fair Team for another great week. Thanks to Julie Lobb, Sharon Hanna, Jessica Ryckman, Alli Matthews, Liz Ruby for helping make it a success. A huge round of applause to Jen Villani on an out of this world Geography Bee for our 4th and 5th Graders. A special shout out to all of our room parents and volunteers for making Halloween such a fun and special day for our kiddos!

LAST DAY OF THE BHES PTA FALL BOOK FAIR! (NOV 2-6)

The BHES PTA Book Fair is concluding Monday, November 6Students and parents may come to the library and shop daily from 9:00am - 3:00pmTeachers will be bringing students to the fair as a class. Parents may join their students during their class shopping time! See the schedule for your teacher's time slot. Sign-in at the front office before heading to the media center to meet your student.

Click here to find the schedule of when classes are visiting the Book Fair.

Parents and students can come shop outside of school hours on Monday, November 6 from 6-8 PM.

Want to help out with the fair?

  • Purchase Books: The easiest way to help is to purchase books during the classroom book fair visits. Scholastic rewards a generous percentage of our sales back to us as Scholastic Dollars, which are used to purchase books for our media center and classrooms. More than one of our recent in-person fairs provided over $5000 worth of books to our school, all purchased with our rewards!

  • Purchase books for Teachers: Another way to help is to purchase books for classroom libraries. Books chosen by our teachers will be available for purchase at the fair.

Set up an eWallet: eWallet is an easy way to send your child to the fair with money in an online account where it can't be lost. Visit https://bookfairs.scholastic.com/content/fairs/how-ewallet-works.html?fairId=5417293 to set up an eWallet for your child before their class visits, or to check or reload the balance on an existing eWallet. Please note that funds added to an eWallet that aren't used will be available for use at Scholastic.com and/or at a later BHES PTA Book Fair but will not be refunded.

COME TO THE SCIENCE FAIR! (NOV 9, 6:30-8:15PM, BHES APR)

The BHES Science Fair will be held on Thursday, November 9! Science Fair project presentations will occur in 2 sessions:

6:30-7:15pm for students in grades K-2

7:30-8:15pm for students in grades 3-5

WARM CLOTHING DRIVE

The PTA Community Service Committee works closely with Weller Road Elementary School to identify ways to support our Title 1 Sister school. Just like last year, Weller Road expressed a need for warm clothing donations. It's time to declutter your closet and donate to a great cause!

Warm Clothing Drive - November 6th - 30th

  • We accept new and gently used donations. All clothes should be clean and in good condition.
  • Sweatshirts, hoodies, long- sleeve shirts, leggings, sweatpants, brand new socks, and brand new underwear are particularly needed.
  • All sizes are accepted, including adult sizes.
  • Please drop off donations in water-proof bags in bins/boxes at the front entrance of BHES

BHES COMMUNITY CONVERSATION ON BIAS (NOV 12)

The Diversity, Equity & Inclusion (DEI) Committee, in partnership with the BHES NAACP Representative, will be hosting a Community Conversation on Sunday, November 12th, for BHES parents and family members to explore the topic of bias. This is not a training but rather a space to share different worldviews, build appreciation for our differences, and support our kids as they develop their own perspectives about identity.

If you are interested in joining, please email the DEI Committee for more information, at DEI.BHES@gmail.com.

FIND WHAT IS LOST IN THE LOST & FOUND

Parents: The BHES Lost & Found is overflowing with jackets and water bottles! Please check the Lost & Found when you are at school for the Book Fair or your Parent-Teacher Conference -- or just end of day pick up, morning drop off, or any other time! The Lost & Found is located in the Multi-Purpose Room. Thank you!
