COMMUNITY CARE CONVERSATIONS (FIRST SESSION FEB 27, 7:00PM, WHITMAN COMMONS (NEW BUILDING))
Whitman PTSA, in conjunction with Whitman HS, will host the next session in our series of Community of Care Conversations. One of the main themes our greater school community is working on this school year is cultivating a sense of belonging and identity among our students.
On 2/27, we hope to bring together students and parents from across our five elementary schools (inviting parents/guardians of all students, KG-5 grades and students in 4th and 5th grade), Pyle MS and Whitman HS for an exploration of what constitutes a sense of belonging in our Whitman community. We will ask students to share with us their perspectives on (a) what makes them feel a sense of belonging at their school, and (b) what makes them feel like they don't belong at their school.
If your student would prefer to share their perspective anonymously, please contact Najiyah Khan, Whitman PTSA DEI Committee Chair, at najiyahkhan@gmail.com
Our second session in the series will take place in April and will bring together parents and caregivers to explore the themes revealed during the students' presentations on Feb. 27th.
MARCH GENERAL PTA MEETING (TUES, MARCH 5, 7:30-9:00PM, VIRTUAL) FEATURING WELLER ROAD ES!
We're thrilled to announce that Weller Road Elementary School, our Title One sister school, will join next month's PTA meeting (Tuesday, March 5th), alongside the PTA’s Community Service Committee. The meeting will showcase the BHES partnership with Weller Road and our collaborative projects. This special presentation promises to shed insight into the important impact this shared initiative has on both our schools. Mark your calendars and join us for this enriching event! (Zoom link coming soon).
KICKING OFF THE ANNUAL BOOK DRIVE
We are having our annual new and gently used book drive to support our sister school Weller Road's book fair, where Weller Road students will shop for books free of charge!
Please drop off donations in the bins in the BHES foyer. Book collection will continue until March 15th.
Thank you for your generosity!
BHES PTA NOMINATING COMMITTEE FOR 2024-25 BHES BOARD AND PTA COMMITEE POSITIONS
It is time to start thinking about next year’s Bradley Hills Board of Directors and WE NEED YOUR HELP. We are looking for 3 volunteers to serve on the PTA Nominating Committee. This group will identify and present candidates to serve on our BHES PTA Board of Directors and help find committee chairs for the 2024-25 school year.
This is a perfect role for those who are interested in volunteering but for whom a long-term position is not a good fit. This short-term role is a perfect way to give back and help our community with a time commitment of approximately a few hours over a two-month period (Mar-May).
The Nominating Committee holds the key to a successful PTA. It is both a very important and light job.
If you are interested and would like to know more about this position -- or about any position within the PTA Board or Committees -- please contact Jenni Weinstein bradleyhillsptaprez@gmail.com
THE PTA IS HERE FOR YOU!
The BHES PTA is committed to promoting an enriching and supportive climate where all members of the BHES community feel safe, seen, and respected. The PTA -- primarily through its Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion (DEI) Committee -- works to advance this goal through the following means: dissemination of educational resources for parents/guardians; organization and facilitation of Heritage Night as well as other events and small-group community conversations to help parents/guardians explore their family identities and issues of bias; financial support of assemblies and other in-school programming to advance diversity, equity, inclusion, and belonging goals; and collaboration with school administration, teachers, and staff on development of materials to supplement teacher lessons on anti-bias and commemorative months. The PTA's DEI Committee welcomes input from all members of our community about how we collectively work to prevent and respond to hate-bias incidents within our community. If you are interested in sharing feedback, or joining the DEI Committee, please contact DEI Committee Co-Chairs Britt Hogue and Kathleen Foster at dei.bhes@gmail.com.
