WHALE WATCH

MAY/JUNE AND JULY AUGUST BIRTHDAY BASHES!

There are two final Birthday Bashes of the school year! Friday, May 17th, we will celebrate May and June birthdays. Students with May and June birthdays will come to the APR from 2:30 pm - 3 pm on Friday to enjoy cupcakes and Birthday Bingo!

We will need 8 volunteers/parents to help us set-up and clean up the Birthday Bash from 2:00 pm to 3:25 pm in the APR. All Bash supplies are provided by the PTA. If your child has a May or June birthday and you have completed the volunteer requirements, please sign up here to volunteer. Nut-free cupcakes will be served. If your child has an allergy of concern please send them with a snack to enjoy at the Bash.

Stay tuned for more information on the July/August Birthday Bash on Friday, May 31st.

PARENT/CHILD REUNIFICATION DRILL - VOLUNTEERS NEEDED!

The school staff will be running a Parent/Child Reunification Drill on Monday May 20th, from approximately 9:45-10:30am. Fifteen-twenty parents are needed to help run through the drill and are asked to assemble at the ramp entrance outside the cafeteria with their photo ID. If you can volunteer please add your name to this google form. The drill will help BHES staff run through the MCPS plan developed to efficiently reunify children with their parent/guardians in the aftermath of a school emergency.

VOLUNTEER FOR FIELD DAY

Bradley Hills will have its annual Field Day on Friday, May 24, 2024. The primary focus of Field Day is FUN. We want students to get out, move around and celebrate the skills they have worked on in PE this year. The success of Field Day depends on people like you volunteering to help! We need help from parents and guardians to run stations and help students have an amazing experience.

The morning scheduled activities will be held from 9:30 to 1:30 p.m. Coach Anderson's goal is to have enough parents to run each of the stations and have BHES staff there to support the groups of students.  If you are able to volunteer some of your time, please use the link to the Sign Up genius (CLICK HERE). Please note that there are separate slots for K-2 and 3-5. Be sure to select the grade range your student is in. If you would like to volunteer the whole day, please sign up in the 9:30-11:30 slot AND the 11:30 - 1:30 slot.

Please sign up by Friday, May 17th so that Coach Anderson has time to organize station leaders and determine how much staff support will be needed.

THE PTA IS HERE FOR YOU!

The DEI April newsletter is now available! Click here to read about upcoming BHES events and cultural observances and for resources to support engagement with the Anti-Bias Building Blocks Curriculum at home.

The BHES PTA is committed to promoting an enriching and supportive climate where all members of the BHES community feel safe, seen, and respected. The PTA -- primarily through its Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion (DEI) Committee -- works to advance this goal through the following means: dissemination of educational resources for parents/guardians; organization and facilitation of Heritage Night as well as other events and small-group community conversations to help parents/guardians explore their family identities and issues of bias; financial support of assemblies and other in-school programming to advance diversity, equity, inclusion, and belonging goals; and collaboration with school administration, teachers, and staff on development of materials to supplement teacher lessons on anti-bias and commemorative months. The PTA's DEI Committee welcomes input from all members of our community about how we collectively work to prevent and respond to hate-bias incidents within our community. If you are interested in sharing feedback, or joining the DEI Committee, please contact DEI Committee Co-Chairs Britt Hogue and Kathleen Foster at klubey@gmail.com
