VOLUNTEERS NEEDED ON PTA COMMITTEES

We still have a number of spaces open on many committees (like Birthday Bash and Movie Night). Check out the committee descriptions here.

BOOK FAIR IS THIS WEEK!  UPDATED TEACHER LIST!

The SCHOLASTIC BOOK FAIR starts tomorrow thru May 8th!  A portion of all sales goes to support the Bradley Hills Media Center and the PTA.

Here’s a quick set of answers to your most pressing book fair questions!

Do we need volunteers?

YES! Please sign up HERE. Just an hour of your time would be amazing.  We still have a lot of open slots that need to be filled.

NEW this time - the volunteer slots have dropped to 1-hour slots. Sign up for 1 or more!  We need all the support we can get to make this a successful book fair.

When can my child buy books?

  • Monday/Tuesday/Wednesday with their teachers/classes (list of classroom visit times is UPDATE HERE)
  • Thursday morning (9am - 12p) on their own if they have payment and a pass from their teacher

When can parents/caregivers buy books?

  • Tuesday night from 6:00pm - 8:00pm
  • Wednesday after school from 3:00pm - 4:00pm
  • During your child's class time - volunteer to help or just stop in

What forms of payment do you accept?

  • Scholastic eWALLET
  • Cash
  • Credit card
  • Apple pay

What is an eWallet and how do I set one up?

Scholastic eWallet account is basically a book fair debit account.

  • Set one up for your child HERE.
  • If you set up an ewallet account last year, YOU STILL MUST LOG ON AND REACTIVATE IT. Any remaining money is still available, but does not roll over automatically.
  • To purchase books, your child just needs to share their name with the cashier, or you can print out the eWallet receipt.
  • Once you add money to the eWallet account you cannot be refunded. BUT any leftover eWallet funds will be converted to an e-card balance that you can use on Scholastic.com at any time or during next year’s book fair.
  • Don’t forget to factor in tax when trying to determine how much to include in the eWallet account.

Do you have other questions?

Please contact the PTA Book Fair email here: bhesptabookfair@gmail.com

Thank you for your support!

MISSING SOMETHING? CHECK THE LOST AND FOUND!

The cool mornings and warm afternoons we've been having call for dressing in layers and many of those layers have ended up in Lost & Found. If your child came home without their jacket or sweatshirt please have them check Lost & Found for it. We have a ton of clothing waiting to be claimed as well as water bottles, lunchboxes, and other items. Lost & Found is located to the left of the stage in the All-Purpose Room. Parents and caregivers are welcome to stop by any time you're at school. Thank you!

SMOOTHIES!

Some students were asking about the smoothies made during Wellness Week. Here's the recipe!

Ingredients:

  • 1 cup acai juice
  • 1/2 cup of water (or any liquid of your choice like milk, OJ, almond milk, or yogurt)
  • 1/2 banana (full banana is also fine)
  • 1 cup frozen mixed berries (these were Costco frozen blueberries, raspberries, and blackberries)
  • Small handful of fresh, washed spinach
  • 3 to 5 dried dates
  • 5 to 10 goji berries
  • 1 cup ice cubes (from filtered water)

Instructions:

Blend everything together for 60-90 seconds, until very smooth. Add more water if too thick to pour. Enjoy!

THE PTA IS HERE FOR YOU

The BHES PTA is committed to promoting an enriching and supportive climate where all members of the BHES community feel safe, seen, and respected. The PTA -- primarily through its Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion (DEI) Committee -- works to advance this goal through the following means: dissemination of educational resources for parents/guardians; organization and facilitation of Heritage Night as well as other events and small-group community conversations to help parents/guardians explore their family identities and issues of bias; financial support of assemblies and other in-school programming to advance diversity, equity, inclusion, and belonging goals; and collaboration with school administration, teachers, and staff on development of materials to supplement teacher lessons on anti-bias and commemorative months.

The PTA's DEI Committee welcomes input from all members of our community about how we collectively work to prevent and respond to hate-bias incidents within our community. If you are interested in sharing feedback, or joining the DEI Committee, please contact DEI Committee Co-Chairs Britt Hogue and Kathleen Foster at klubey@gmail.com
