SUBJECT: Weekly Whale - March 30, 2026

SPOUT OUTS!

Spout out to our Community Service team—Angela Goldstein, Cara Reiter, and Jennifer Jabara—and all the BHES families who donated books to support the WRES Book Drive. Your generosity helped make the WRES book fair possible, and we truly appreciate the support!

Congratulations to the Bradley Hills math team on completing a successful season of Math Olympiad - and big thanks to Anjum Malik for leading the team! Over five months, our mathletes took part in weekly practice sessions and monthly contests. Our top-scoring students - Rishaan Rastogi, Jibran Malik, Evan Villani and Mihir Mittal - proudly represented Bradley Hills at a Mid-Atlantic regional math tournament earlier this month and placed 11th out of over 60 teams from across the DMV. Go Whales!

Sorry for the late Whale this week! We are vacationing in unfamiliar waters and were distracted by a passing school of moon jellies. No Weekly Whale next Sunday. In the meantime, we hope you are having as much fun as we are breaching the surface, blowing bubbles, and fashioning clever little hats from passing kelp.

WHALE WATCH

REGISTRATION FOR SPRING AFTER SCHOOL ENRICHMENT IS EXTENDED TO APRIL 8TH (AND THE SCHEDULE HAS CHANGED BY ONE WEEK)

We are extending registration for the Spring session of after school enrichment programming, offered in partnership with Baroody Camps, through Weds, April 8 and pushing back the start and end dates by a week (programs will now start the week of April 16th). Please click here (https://bc-mco-bradleyhills.jumbula.com/spring-2026) to view the class schedule and pricing information and sign up for activities.

Don't delay - your favorite class might fill up, or, if not enough people sign up, it might be cancelled!

After school enrichment programs are neither sponsored nor endorsed by the Montgomery County School Board, the Superintendent of Montgomery County Public Schools, or Bradley Hills Elementary School. Email Natalie Ram at natalie.ram@gmail.com with any questions.

GET READY FOR BRADLEY BEAUTIFUL! (SUN, APRIL 26, 4-6PM)

Come celebrate Earth Day on Sunday, April 26, from 4:00-6:00 at Bradley Hills! This is a school-wide event hosted by the Green Team. Grab your gardening gloves and spades and help make our school beautiful. Mulching, planting and park clean-up will begin at 4:00. From 4:30-6:00 you can enjoy games/activities, food trucks, and the plant sale. We will also have a TREX drop, so please bring your plastic bags to recycle!

Fun Fact: Did you know that TREX uses recycled material from plastic film and bags to make composite decking?

VOLUNTEERS NEEDED FOR BHES BOOSTERTHON FUN RUN

This year our Boosterthon Fun Run will be April 28th. But before the fun, we need some extra hands to help make things run smoothly. We are looking for 4-5 parent volunteers to help sort prizes, put posters/signs in and around the school building, and distribute prizes during the fundraiser (4/20-4/28).

Also, we are looking for someone to "learn the ropes" to take over this event in the future.

If you are interested, please reach out to Jenni Weinstein (jenni.weinstein@gmail.com)

SAVE THE DATE FOR COMMUNITY OF CARE EVENT (APRIL 30, 6-8PM, BHES APR)

Join us for our next Community of Care evening — a chance to come together as a school community with pizza, connection and conversation! Building on our previous gathering, this session will continue to focus on how we can support our children in creating a kind, inclusive, and respectful environment — both in and out of the classroom.

Date: Thursday, April 30, 2026
Time: 6:00 – 8:00
Location: Bradley Hills Elementary School

All students and caregivers are welcome. More details to follow, including program highlights and logistics.

Hosted by the Bradley Hills PTA, in collaboration with MCPS staff and community volunteers

THE PTA IS HERE FOR YOU

The BHES PTA is committed to promoting an enriching and supportive climate where all members of the BHES community feel safe, seen, and respected. The Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion (DEI) Committee works to advance this goal through educational resources, community conversations, in-school programming, and collaboration with school and county staff. Our focus this year is the Speak Up Strategies to empower our community, students and adults alike, to be upstanders in the face of hate and bias.

The PTA's DEI Committee welcomes input from all members of our community about how we collectively work to prevent and respond to hate-bias incidents within our community. If you are interested in sharing feedback, or joining the DEI Committee, please contact DEI Committee Co-Chairs Nausheen Noor and Kathleen Foster at klubey@gmail.com
