SPOUT OUTS!

A huge spout out to our generous community, who donated hundreds of beautiful books for the Weller Road book fair! We filled two SUVs full of books! Thank you to Claire Heffez for picking up books from school so that they could be delivered to Weller Road. Spout outs also go to those who contribute to community messages about cultural celebrations and DEI subjects: Bridget Gray, Tafadzwa Kasambira, Emily Kopp, Sarah Izabel, Anne Reid, Reena Tilva, Sarah Tsien Zetterli, Olivia Choe, and Veronica Velez-Burgess.  Thank you to Laurel Keating for all her work organizing afterschool enrichment through Enrichment Matters. WHALE WATCH

HERITAGE NIGHT

Mark your calendars! The BHES Heritage Night celebration is coming on February 24th!!!  Visit tables hosted by BHES families and learn about the rich cultural diversity of our school community in one of BHES' most loved events!

Would you like to host a table that displays your family heritage?   *** Sign up by February 11 HERE! ***

Tables may include arts and crafts, traditional clothing (which can also be worn by the host families), pictures, posters, and food for visitors to sample.  A table can be hosted by a single family or several families. Most families choose to display a country. However, displays may also represent geographic entities that are considered by the family volunteers as their immediate or ancestral homeland or as representative of their cultural heritage. Past examples of displays that are not countries have included the Alps, Scotland, and Texas.

Would you like to Volunteer your time to help make Heritage Night a success? We could use your help!! *** Sign up HERE! ***

BHES VARIETY SHOW

GET READY TO TAKE THE STAGE AND SHINE ON MARCH 26!

It is time to start thinking about the 2022 Bradley Hills Elementary School Variety Show!!  Our talented students will take the stage on Saturday, March 26th and will be required to attend a mandatory dress rehearsal on Friday, March 25th.  Both will take place in the Walt Whitman High School auditorium.

This show is one of the highlights of the school year for everyone - parents, teachers, and of course, students - and we want this year's show to be the best one yet!

Kids!  Start thinking of your act!

We are looking for all types of acts - dancers, singers, musicians, martial artists, gymnasts, comedians, magicians, or other special talents.  The more creative the better.  We recommend group acts, although we welcome single performers, and we strongly suggest you do not do a skit.  Please keep in mind that performances are limited to 2 minutes for 4th/5th graders; 1 minute 45 seconds for 2nd/3rd graders; and 1 minute 30 seconds for K/1st graders.

NOTE: All CDC and MCPS COVID guidelines must be followed.  The PTA Board will make any final decisions on including an act in the show.

***** A special note for 5th graders! *****

There are two traditions that are unique to fifth graders:  participating as an emcee and/or participating in the 5th grade song that closes the show.  We will need 5th grade parent volunteers to make this happen.  Please email us at bhesvarietyshow2022@gmail.com if you're willing to help.  And watch for a 5th grade emcee/song sign up sheet in February!

Act sign ups will be coming out in February!  Please don't hesitate to contact the Variety Show Committee with questions at bhesvarietyshow2022@gmail.com .
