LOOKING FOR EXPERIENCED FAMILIES TO SERVE AS "BUDDIES"
We are looking for a few more experienced families to join as Buddies for our Newcomer Families in the BHES PTA Informal Buddy System.
Please send an email to the Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion Committee email address at dei.bhes@gmail.com or text 301-661-5432 if you are interested!
What is the Informal Buddy System? Each interested newcomer family will be paired with an experienced buddy family who can provide answers to newcomer questions, and offer helpful tips about how to navigate in the BHES environment. We want all newcomers to feel welcome and included! Also, we will soon expand the definition of "Newcomer" to include any family that joined Bradley Hills during the pandemic. We know it's been a strange time.
MEDIA CENTER VOLUNTEERS NEEDED
Parents once again have the opportunity to volunteer at the school's Media Center! Our fantastic Media Specialist, Ms. Park, runs a busy program and can use your help in a number of ways. Volunteers may come help while their child's class is at the Media Center, see the schedule here (please note A and B weeks), or during the Open Checkout session scheduled every Tuesday from 9:10-10:00am.
Ms. Park is also seeking volunteers to help run a Lunchtime Book Club for students to share thoughts on books they are currently reading, which would be organized by grade. If you are interested in helping in any of these cases, or at any other point in the week, please email Claire Heffez at claire.hazard@gmail.com, and Amie Park at Amie_Schwartz@mcpsmd.org so that they may put you on the schedule.
HELP US MEET FOOD DRIVE GOALS!
BHES is participating in Manna Food Center's Kids Helping Kids (KHK) campaign in October.
We are $400 away from our $1000 goal! Please help us reach that goal by visiting our school page and making an online donation today: https://secure.qgiv.com/event/khk22/team/907818/
In addition, we are looking to reach our goal of one student, one can! We are encouraging every student to bring in at least one can of food and help us contribute to this amazing campaign!
In-kind donations can be dropped off at Manna collection boxes located in the front foyer of BHES or at the entrance of 5708 Glenwood Road.
The most needed food items include: oatmeal, brown rice, pasta, peanut butter, tuna cans, canned fruit and vegetables. The fill list of items can be found here.
Thank you for all your incredible support!
