STATEMENT ON ANTISEMETIC INCIDENT

The BHES PTA Board and the PTA's Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion (DEI) Committee wanted to make sure that members of our BHES community are aware of an incident of antisemitic graffiti that took place yesterday (Saturday, 12/17) at Walt Whitman High School. A message to the Whitman community from the school's principal, Dr. Dodd, about this incident may be found here. We find this behavior hurtful and against what we stand for as a PTA community -- as we strive to promote an enriching and supportive climate where all members of the BHES community feel safe, seen, respected, and can learn and thrive. We welcome input on how we, as a community, can meaningfully respond to this incident and will share further details on any planned activities. With so much darkness in this world, may the light and spirit of Hanukkah give us all hope and strength in the days ahead.
