Celebrate Black History Month this February with a spotlight on Black Resistance. Learn about African American history and culture, this month and throughout the year, with links to resources and events here.
FEBRUARY BIRTHDAY BASH (FEB 10, 2:30PM, APR)
Friday, February 10th, we will hold the February Birthday Bash! Students with FEBRUARY birthdays will come to the APR from 2:30 pm - 3 pm on Friday to enjoy cupcakes and Birthday Bingo!
We will need 8 volunteers/parents to help us set-up and clean up the Birthday Bash from 2:00 pm to 3:25 pm in the APR. All Bash supplies are provided by the PTA. If your child has a February birthday and you have completed the volunteer requirements, please sign up here to volunteer.
Allergy Reminder: Giant Bakery cupcakes and Goldfish crackers are served for the snack at the Birthday Bash. The cupcakes are nut-free. If your child has an allergy of concern PLEASE send them with a snack to enjoy at the Bash. We are very happy to make them a plate!!

We have 29 tables confirmed. Let's have 40 or more!
Sign-up to host a table here by February 10th. Hosting a table usually implies creating a tri-fold poster and exhibiting crafts, artwork, books, instruments, clothing, and other items that represent your heritage. You can also share food and drinks!

BHES will be putting on its annual variety show on April 29, 2023. It’s the highlight of the year for our community and tons of fun!

Registration for acts will be open from Feb. 15 to March 15 (we will not accept registrations before Feb. 15).
Please volunteer to make this year's show the best one yet. The event requires a LOT of parent support and involvement. We need assistance with all aspects of the show, from lighting, sound, and stage management to event coordination. Please click here and to sign up to volunteer.

IN-PERSON PTA MEETING (MARCH 7, 7:30PM, APR)
SAVE THE DATE for our next IN PERSON PTA meeting on Tuesday March 7 at 7:30 pm in the Bradley Hills All Purpose Room. We will discuss the latest PTA business and host Dr. Rebecca Resnick for a discussion on childhood anxiety.
Children's Stress: The Curse and the Blessing
During our age of stress, smart parents are focusing on how best to help their children develop resilience. We know our role as parents is to raise children who can stand strong in the face of challenges. However, this responsibility could feel overwhelming, even before the pandemic hit. For this presentation, Dr. Rebecca Resnik, Licensed Psychologist, will describe how our children's stress response is actually both a "curse and a blessing." She will discuss why so much of what we have been told about stress is wrong, and update parents on what the science says about kids and stress. Attendees will learn to tell the difference between everyday situational stress and anxiety disorders. Dr. Resnik will provide practical tools for helping children harness their stress and re-discover their spark.
Dr. Rebecca Resnik is a licensed psychologist and founder of Rebecca Resnik and Associates, a group practice with offices in North Bethesda. She specializes in pediatric neuropsychological assessment. Prior to becoming a psychologist, she earned her masters degree in Special Education with a concentration in learning disabilities. Dr. Resnik is the current President of the Maryland Psychological Association. Her book, A Parent's First Guide to ADHD was published in 2016. She is a regular speaker at national conferences and local events. She is a proud parent of 2 MCPS students.
