A heartfelt thanks goes to Veronica Velez-Burgess who has exemplified dedication, creativity, enthusiasm, and compassion in her exceptional volunteerism to the BHES PTA. Vero has 12 years of experience serving on various PTAs both in the United States and around the world. She served for 5 years as Community Programs Liaison on the PTA Board and has continued as an active volunteer this school year. Whether it is taking the BHES partnership with our sister school, Weller Road, to new heights; being on hand to whip up some delicious smoothies during Wellness Week; making our BHES families feel seen and appreciated through the celebration of their cultures during Heritage Night; organizing an amazing Halloween Haunted House for our 5th graders, or mentoring her successor on the PTA Board... Vero has enriched the experiences of so many BHES children and made our community more vibrant. As Vero and her husband Ryan's youngest son, Luke, graduates and goes to Pyle, we salute the Velez-Burgess family. They will be sorely missed.

June 16 – Last Day of School - Early Release Day (12:55pm), 5th Grade Clap Out (doors open at 12:30)

CELEBRATE PRIDE!

The Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion (DEI) Committee of the PTA would like to take a moment to recognize and celebrate Pride Month, which is observed every June. 

Pride Month is an opportunity to honor and support the lesbian, gay, bisexual, transgender, queer/questioning, and intersex (LGBTQI+) community and to foster an inclusive environment for all students and families within our school community.  Pride also commemorates the Stonewall uprising in New York City on June 28,1969, which served as a catalyst for the gay rights movement in the US and around the world.
